A rainy morning of the 3rd day of July year 2012-
a perfect time for me to do something in life. I am Mark and this is my first
blog. I consider this instant as a new chapter of my life. I will start writing
my story so when I get old I will just sit down at my chair and use new gadget
at that time could offer to read my blogs and if I can still do more. I can
imagine how high-tech it is in the future. By the way I’m only 21 years old so
maybe, or rather surely there would be a big advancement in technology after 50
years I guess. My first blog will be my biography. Perhaps it is the best way to
introduce myself first to the world of bloggers.
I am a Boholano. Well actually I was born in Navotas City at the house
where my parents live at that time but in my birth certificate it says that I
was born in Sampaloc Manila. So why I’m saying that I’m a Boholano? Too confusing
right? At the time I was born my parents were not yet married and they are
living-in (nagtanan). My Lola (My mom’s
mother) is the number 1 antagonist of my parent’s love story. So after I was
born my Lola came to our house and she’s the one who registered me at the city
hall and she placed there that I was born in Sampaloc Manila wherein my Lola
lives at that time. After a couple of months, my parents decided to go back to
their home town, their origin place, which is Bohol. There I grew up, which
makes me a Boholano. Now you know. If
it is Jus Sanguinis (determined by parents blood/nationality/citizenship) I am
a Boholano but if it’s Jus Soli (determined by place of
birth) I’m a NavoteƱo but who cares even Chinese won’t care
where I belong, I’m still a Filipino.
Just additional knowledge which I’ve learned - Philippines uses Jus Sanguinis
principle wherein no matter where you were born as long as your parents are
Filipinos you are still a Filipino, but there are countries that uses Jus Soli principle
like the United States wherein no matter what your parents citizenship are as
long as you were born at that place you belong to that place and other nice
fact that the US Embassy is considered as a US territory so if you were born
inside the US Embassy you will be a US Citizen.
I am a nurse. Yes I
am one of those unemployed nurses in the Philippines due to over population of
nurses in just a short span of years from the time it became an in demand work
abroad. I admit I take nursing because I want to earn dollars. At my time, five
years ago, nursing is a bum course. Many took it because it is in the peak
period of in-demand work abroad especially in America, Canada, and London. Who
doesn’t want to go abroad and earn $5,000 - $10,000 per month (approx. 225,000
PHP – 450,000 PHP per month)? That’s a big money we’re talking to. That’s what
my family always telling me particularly my titos’ and titas’ and my lola who are
already Canadian citizens. They always encouraged me to study hard so they will
help me to get there and to earn that money in the future. Well I just hoping that
the time will come soon and all those dreams will came true. It’s just a matter
of time, waiting, and patience. I will write a blog post to follow-up my
employment status. I Hope I’m already in
the greener pasture at my next post about my work status.
